Automated Gates Overview

American Access Company installs and repairs thousands of gate openers, automated gate devices and automated gate systems every year. Just as importantly, American Access Company provides maintenance on many of these gate openers and entry devices annually, avoiding costly gate operator and motor break-downs and repairs.

Repairs for Gate Openers

Modern gate openers are very different from older gate opener models. The new openers are complex devices with plug-in and standalone components, multiple circuit boards and integrated gate safety devices. Modern gate operators more resemble personal computers on the inside than older gate operator models.

Gate Opener Service and Maintenance

When your automatic gate is installed, there’s nothing more you’d like than for it to last a lifetime. In order to get a full lifetime out of your automated gate, there needs to be regular maintenance performed on your gate. One of the gate opener items you need to take care of is the gate chain. The gate chain should be cleaned, tensioned and greased at least once a year.

American Access Company provides a complete service and maintenance program through our service agreement for our automated gate installations, or you can make an appointment just by giving us a call. We will conduct an annual compliance check for proper maintenance and safety. Common features American Access Company adjusts and inspects during these appointments include:

  • All moving components
  • Chains
  • Chain rollers
  • Trucks
  • Guides

Gate Opener Replacement

Replacing a worn-out gate opener involves more than just swapping-out the unit. It involves upgrading the gate system and gate safety devices to be compliant with the new gate opener. Today’s gate openers require integrated safety devices be in-play before beginning operation. American Access Company’s professional staff are knowledgeable not only on today’s technology but on older units as well. We have been installing gate operators and automated gate devices for 50+ years.

Complete Gate System Installation

Modern gate openers are not able to function completely on their own. Each automatic gate system will require at least five different gate entry control devices for your automatic gate system. A combination of the following products is needed for a complete automated gate system:

  • Photoeyes
  • Keypads
  • Contact edges
  • Proximity readers
  • Photoelectric through beams
  • Ground loops and wands
  • Card readers
